The Killer Beauty Guide to Protection Covers
As all qualified PMU artists know, practicing good hygiene and maintaining a disinfected, clean workspace is paramount when it comes to protecting your client’s wellbeing. Here at Killer Beauty, our goal is to provide artists with everything they could possibly need to create a safe, hygienic environment for them and their clients. That’s why we stock a wide range of protection covers all in one place, so you can reduce the risk of infection and cross-contamination.
Why is hygiene so important?
PMU artists should always make health and hygiene their top priority and take every step to ensure that any areas which could harbour fluid, blood or germs are completely covered.
The treatment areas need to be cared for as an open wound during and immediately after the procedure, so it is vital that the clients are shielded and protected from any bacteria that could contaminate the area.
Cross-contamination between clients is also a risk that needs to be carefully managed by every PMU artist. The importance of this is made clear by the requirement for every budding artist to complete a blood-borne pathogens course before embarking on any PMU training course, to ensure client’s safety.
Bed Covers & Couch Roll
Your treatment bed must always be covered, which you can do with our Killer Beauty Elasticated Bed Covers or our Waterproof Bedsheets. They’re super easy to change and dispose of in between clients and you can also double up with couch roll for further protection.
Protection Covers
Our hygiene range includes Disposable Head Rest Covers, Lap Cloths and Client Drapes for use during the PMU procedure. Other options include Surface Protection Sheets, barrier film and cling film so you can cover any shape or size surface (from chairs to trays to trolleys) to ensure that your clinic’s safety isn’t compromised. Our Cling-On Chair Covers even include the Killer Beauty logo!
Bottle covers are great for covering items you use during treatments, and we offer a range of grip sleeves, machine and clip cord covers to fit a variety of PMU machines, power supplies and cords. Simply pair with the Killer Beauty grip wrap to secure the cover around your machine before you open and attach the sterile needle cartridges – this way you know your equipment and your client are completely protected.
Aprons
Many artists use disposable, plastic aprons in their clinic to act as PPE and protect their clothing from ink spillages. A more sustainable option for artists looking to reduce their plastic waste is the Killer Beauty Washable Apron, which comes with a convenient front pocket, adjustable strap and a tie waist to ensure it fits any artist comfortably.
Aprons are of course part of our extensive PPE range, which we have an entire blog dedicated to here. Head on over now to read all about the masks, gloves, hairnets and much more that we offer to keep you and your client 100% protected during every treatment.
Our ECOTAT Range
In recent years so many PMU artists are seeking eco-friendly alternatives to try and reduce the plastic waste in their clinic. One brand that is popular amongst eco-conscious artists is ECOTAT: a range of eco-friendly protective covers designed to reduce plastic waste and contribute to a healthier climate.
ECOTAT protection covers are made from naturally obtained, plant-based materials known as PLA (polylactic acid). They are a renewable alternative for their single-use, fossil fuel derived plastic counterparts. These covers are super thin and light, and yet they are just as resilient as plastic, so you don’t have to worry about them breaking during the procedure.
By using ECOTAT products you will not only prevent cross-contamination during PMU treatments and keep your clients safe from infection, but you can also minimise your environmental impact.
As they are primarily made from Cornstarch PLA, this material is produced in a way that uses less energy and generates fewer greenhouse gases in comparison to traditional plastic materials. They also emit no toxic fumes when incinerated – overall they are a much greener option!
As every reputable PMU artist will already know, health and hygiene are the top priorities in any clinic and a legal requirement to obtain a license before you can even begin working on your clients. We discuss this in detail over on our blog How to Become a Certified Cosmetic Tattooer.
We hope you find this helpful and always share our passion and enthusiasm for maximum safety & hygiene in any permanent makeup setting.
